So I've been working at a new job for the last few days. After a week off after the pool closed, I'm grateful to be working again. I've been hired at the Wolf camera in the streets of woodfield and for a while I will be mostly doing lab work. Eventually I will be bouncing back and forth between the lab and the sales area. In some ways it is wierd because sometimes I've felt like I'm doing the same job as I did while I was back at Skrudland's. That experience has helped me pick up[ the basics pretty quickly. My responsibilites in the lab are far more here, sometimes I've been the only one to run the lab, but the basic idea is the same -just different machines.
I finished my Summer class last week. Our final was to mix a song while our teacher watched. We had to patch in some outboard gear and get a basic mix done in 25 minutes, which would be really fast to actually finish one, but it was basically to show that we knew what we were doing. I think I did well.
A week or so ago I was able to go down to the studio with Mark and I booked some time there. I had wanted to test out my new microphone with equipment better than what I had at home. I was fortunate to be able to check out some expensive microphones to use as comparisons and that worked out really well. What pumped me up was that I preferred the sound of my mic over the others that I compared it to on both acoustic guitar and vocals. One of the mics I tested it against was a Neumann.
I'm in the process of finishing up some recording for my uncle in Iowa. He had asked if we could record the songs we sang while we were down there and so Shawn Clarke and I got together last week to record them and I'm working on editing them. Likely that will be the easiest recording session that I ever do. The cool thing about it was that I saw how I can use my knowledge of recording in a way that is serving others. I was able to use audio as ministry. That was really nice to see, confirming as well.
God did something really cool last week while I was valet parking last week, ask me about it and I'll tell you the story. He also let me drive a Porsche.
For now, that's all I've got. |
