I am going to Colorado in a few days.  It doesn't look like the mountains got the same amount of snow as Denver did, but hopefully there will be a bit more while were there.  I'm looking forward to snowboarding again.  I'm looking forward to finally having a chance to rest and get away from almost everything for a while.  The near continual state of being worn out has taken a significant toll.

Here is something from a couple weeks ago...

Wilco 003

This was a portion of a conversation from my drive today.

Nate - (frustrated because Danny had just bumped him) Danny, if you were balancing a Hershey's on the skinny end of a Laffy Taffy would you want me to knock 'em over?

Danny - Well I don't really do that so it wouldn't matter.

That made the traffic not seem so bad.  They usually aren't funny when they argue.

I'm thinking of quitting one of my jobs. Part of me wonders if it is the right decision and I'm torn between two logical, although contradicting, interpretations of my feelings. I would love to have a little bit of time and less stress, but I wonder about the whole money thing. I've seen that provided for in the past. Where is the line drawn between needing to persevere under difficulty and needing to get out of a situation? I hope to find out soon. Pray for me and my decision making process. If something is going to happen, it will likely happen soon.

My chances of seeing Wilco this weekend are being threatened and I'm standing up for myself like I rarely have. We'll see about that too.

Recently I have been bringing my camera with me everytime I go to class.  I figure that you never know when you'll need it.  Last night was one of those opportunities.   Fire 012 low Fire 024 low  Fire 022 low Fire 029 lowFire 045 low

So I've been working at a new job for the last few days.  After a week off after the pool closed, I'm grateful to be working again.  I've been hired at the Wolf camera in the streets of woodfield and for a while I will be mostly doing lab work.  Eventually I will be bouncing back and forth between the lab and the sales area.  In some ways it is wierd because sometimes I've felt like I'm doing the same job as I did while I was back at Skrudland's.  That experience has helped me pick up[ the basics pretty quickly.  My responsibilites in the lab are far more here, sometimes I've been the only one to run the lab, but the basic idea is the same -just different machines.

I finished my Summer class last week.  Our final was to mix a song while our teacher watched.  We had to patch in some outboard gear and get a basic mix done in 25 minutes, which would be really fast to actually finish one, but it was basically to show that we knew what we were doing.  I think I did well.

A week or so ago I was able to go down to the studio with Mark and I booked some time there.  I had wanted to test out my new microphone with equipment better than what I had at home.  I was fortunate to be able to check out some expensive microphones to use as comparisons and that worked out really well.  What pumped me up was that I preferred the sound of my mic over the others that I compared it to on both acoustic guitar and vocals.  One of the mics I tested it against was a Neumann.

I'm in the process of finishing up some recording for my uncle in Iowa.  He had asked if we could record the songs we sang while we were down there and so Shawn Clarke and I got together last week to record them and I'm working on editing them.  Likely that will be the easiest recording session that I ever do.  The cool thing about it was that I saw how I can use my knowledge of recording in a way that is serving others.  I was able to use audio as ministry.  That was really nice to see, confirming as well.

God did something really cool last week while I was valet parking last week, ask me about it and I'll tell you the story.  He also let me drive a Porsche.

For now, that's all I've got.
